The media is a potent influencer of health behaviors and how individuals think about health. Health care has traditionally used the media for marketing purposes and not as a tool for effective community change to foster health and appropriate healthcare. At the same time, the media has been unchecked in their protrayal of healthcare topics -- there is little to no accountability within the media around health or healthcare.

Improving the quality of health and healthcare information in the media will facilitate better health outcomes at the individual, family, and community levels. We are working with communities and healthcare organizations to positively impact their use of the media and the media’s impact in their area.
